Clear adoption event from shelter in Illinois


There are few things that break my heart more than seeing dogs and cats sitting in a cage waiting for a new loving family to come and save them. Make no mistake, animal shelters in the Stateline area take great care of the animals that stay with them. They do all they can to enrich their lives, but there is still no place like home, is there?

If you’re considering adding a new furry family member to your crew, this weekend is a great time to do so at Winnebago County Animal Services in Rockford.

This Friday September 17 and Saturday September 18, 2021, only Winnebago County Animal Services will again participate in the national event ”Empty shelters‘ Event. So what does this mean for you and me? Well, we can adopt for free a cat or dog that is currently available for adoption from Winnebago County Animal Services this weekend.

Important things to know about the “Clear the Shelters” adoption event

  • No-charge adoptions will be available for certain adult cats and dogs currently awaiting a home at Winnebago County Animal Services. (see adoptable animals here).
  • Prospective adopters who have a pre-approved adoption application will have the first chance to meet the animals and the first choice to adopt. (complete an application now, here).
  • Adoption hours at Winnebago County Animal Services will be 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
