Surface Reflections (Design Show) and Nature-Inspired Hotels • Hotel Designs

From time to time in the writing of hotel designs, a project emerges that completely overwhelms me. Yes, we always cover sensational projects that house exceptional interiors, but when a hotel’s design narrative is so deep that every touchpoint sensitively references its location in a creative, non-confirmative way, I don’t can’t help but be impressed when understanding the challenges the designer faced when creating such a masterpiece.

Well, this week the editorial team had the pleasure of writing about two such projects that fit stylishly into this “extraordinary” category. The first being the Taoxichuan Hotel, designed by AIM Architecture and David Chipperfield Architects. Its design pays homage to the city’s porcelain heritage in design, finishes and surfaces. The other is located in Costa Rica. Every inch of Nekajui, a reserve of the Ritz-Carltondesigned by SB Architects, will reflect a deep respect for the biodiversity of the region.

Taoxichuan Hotel: A Journey into Ceramics and Context

Taoxichuan Hotel is located in the vibrant creative and cultural district of Taoxichuan in Jingdezhen, China. The project is a collaboration between AIM Architecture and David Chipperfield Architects and occupies three interconnected buildings, each part of which pays homage to the city’s porcelain heritage in design, finishes and surfaces.

SB Architects Reveals Design Details for The Ritz-Carlton in Costa Rica

SB Architects revealed the design he conducted for Nekajui, a reserve of the Ritz-Carlton and Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve Residence. The resort and exclusive collection of luxury residences will be located in the Papagayo Peninsula, a private club and resort community in the Guanacaste region of northwest Costa Rica.

Mandarin Oriental announces its first plans for Greece
